Climate change impacts women, men and persons with disabilities differently in Fiji.
Families are being displaced. Gender roles are changing as women take on more responsibilities. Villages
are relocating. Coastlines are disappearing. Homes, burial grounds, plantations, water sources, and
cultural heritage are being lost—along with the social, emotional, and spiritual connections they hold.
At Climate Talk Community Fund (Fiji), we stand with these vulnerable/frontline communities.
Always alongside those most affected—so their voices shape the decisions that define their future.
Why Climate Talk Exists
Climate change in Fiji is more than an environmental crisis. It is also a human and cultural one. For many communities, this means:
- Families being displaced from ancestral land
- Loss of homes, livelihoods, and identity
- Women carrying increased care burdens during disaster recovery
- Children growing up in temporary or relocated settlements
- Loss of burial grounds, heritage, and cultural connection
- Communities rebuilding after repeated cycles of disaster and recovery
- Unequal access to funding, services, and decision-making power
These are losses that cannot always be measured—and must never be ignored.
Who We Are
Climate Talk Community Fund (Fiji) is a Suva-based charitable trust registered in July 2024, operating as Climate Talk Fiji.
Since 2018, our team has worked alongside frontline communities across Fiji through established NGOs and INGOs, building trusted relationships that laid the foundation for Climate Talk.
We were formed in response to a growing reality: climate mobility is increasing, and communities need long-term support—not only emergency response.
What We Do
Supporting Displaced and Relocated Communities
Working directly with communities facing climate displacement and relocation.
Our work includes:
Climate Loss & Damage
including Non-Economic Social & Cultural Losses (NELD)
Some climate impacts cannot simply be rebuilt or replaced. Most climate losses cannot be measured economically.
We work with communities to document and respond to:
We also support activities that promote communities’ access to funding and build evidence for advocacy and climate justice.
Climate Justice Advocacy
We help communities who contribute the least to carbon emissions but suffer the most devastating climate losses to speak for themselves.
We support:
Climate justice must be shaped by people living its realities.
Our Approach
We are guided by:
We combine lived experiences, local indigenous knowledge, and scientific evidence.
Resilience must be built from the ground up.
